Hey! I'm Mumbi Munyua, a Kenyan freelance illustrator based in Hertfordshire.

Mumbi creates bold, joyful work that celebrates Black women, culture and identity. Inspired by nature, people and storytelling, she uses vibrant colour and dynamic compositions to bring stories to life.

In 2025 Mumbi won the FAB Prize and was recognised as a rising star in the publishing industry. She has illustrated since 2016 when undertaking her Bachelor's Degree in Digital Design in Brunel. This is where her love for drawing and observational skills developed as she taught herself how to draw. Her interest in drawing people that reflected her life grew, which has been a key feature in her work. She's works across advertising, editorial and publishing and has collaborated with clients like Oxfam and Guinness.
